They were strangers hired for the same impossible road — until the road chose them.
(Demo synopsis.) Five strangers are hired to escort a lantern reliquary across the Shattered Causeway — a pilgrimage route that has swallowed every prior company. Mapmaker Mira leads because she alone can read the causeway's shifting paths; the others bring incompatible skills, debts, and reasons to distrust one another.
Episodic road chapters alternate wonder and attrition until a spectral Hollow King begins hunting the reliquary's light. The ensemble must decide whether the pilgrimage's stated goal matters more than the family they are becoming on the march.
The climax sacrifices the reliquary to save the company, reframing "found family" as a choice rather than a trope checkbox. Track how distinct voices in group scenes carry exposition without a designated explainer character.
Ensemble fantasy lives or dies on distinct voices in group scenes. Track how banter carries exposition and how pilgrimage structure spaces set pieces without feeling episodic.
An ensemble fantasy about misfits who become family on a perilous pilgrimage.
Family is the people who still share your fire when the lantern goes out.
