Element kind: Structure
The midpoint shifts your story from a state of low-stakes experimentation into an unyielding race against time. This milestone should permanently take away your character’s escape routes, forcing them to accept that their original methods will no longer suffice to resolve the central conflict.
The midpoint handles a vital structural task: it transforms your protagonist from a reactive victim defending against plot events into an active agent driving their own destiny. By introducing an unexpected revelation or a devastating structural failure at the center of your page count, your narrative completely alters its context for the remaining movements.
