Element kind: Narrative
An exceptional omniscient voice requires deliberate intention. Your narrator serves as an expansive lens that can peer into the deep past, predict the future, or reveal a character’s self-deception. Keep this voice distinct from your characters’ internal dialogue to maintain an elegant, sweeping structural distance. Typical movements: Establishing the Cinematic Scope, Weaving Multiple Interior Minds, and Executing Thematic Foreshadowing.
Omniscience works beautifully when your narrator’s unique commentary, panoramic scope, or philosophical distance adds grand thematic value to your manuscript. Rather than haphazardly bouncing between thoughts, an omniscient voice acts as an elegant, independent character guiding the audience through the wider universe.
